The Freebird Project

Located in the heart of Bali, this residential project was designed by architectural designer Alexis Dornier for a charming New Zealand family, who entrusted Kosame with the interior design and creation of bespoke furniture. Our objective was clear: to enhance this architectural masterpiece with the Kosame signature that supports and elevates the concept.

We approached this project with our core values in mind: Authentic, Essential, Refined and Harmonious. We carefully crafted almost every decorative and furniture element, ensuring that they serve as a design statement while blending seamlessly into the overall aesthetic. We source natural, raw and responsibly harvested materials from Indonesia, true to our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.

The wabi-sabi philosophy, which finds beauty in imperfection and simplicity, guided our design choices. Our goal was to create interiors that evoke a sense of tranquility and comfort, similar to the sensation of hearing a light rain - Kōsame - while being comfortable inside.

Working on the Freebird project in collaboration with Alexis was a chance and an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but also sustainable and meaningful. By focusing on every detail, from layout to materials, we ensured that the interior design aligned with Dornier's vision and offered a holistic experience to all who entered.

This project is a testament to our belief that good design enhances life, respects nature and reflects a balanced lifestyle. We're really proud of our work on the Freebird project and look forward to new collaborations that will enable us to bring our values and philosophy to life.
